JUAN + DIXON | engagement sesion

Dixon had NO idea what was about to happen on this gloomy Tuesday afternoon. Juan was preparing this surprise engagement for weeks in advance for him. From a message in the bottle 'found' on the beach along with our photoshoot to a white limo and a picnic in wine country. They are sweethearts and can't wait for them to get married!

BURNING MAN TEMPLE

There is no place on Earth like the Burning man temple. So much pain, sorrow and grief, but also love, hope and gratitude in one place. You walk around and read notes to people who are not here with us anymore, you read poems about love, pictures of people who are being missed till this very moment or you sing along with people that came here to remember someone important to them. You can come here to write a little note to yourself as well. Maybe to your old life full wrong thoughts and habits. And you let it symbolically burn.

Seeing the temple burning always brings up so many emotions full of tears. It's cathartic. You feel the urge to hold someone's hand because you don't want to be alone in that moment. And you are not. 

 

 

 

 

 

THE PEOPLE I MEET AT BURNING MAN

The Black Rock Desert is such a special place to me. You show up at this empty canvas and with 70 thousand strangers you create the most beautiful art and connections you could ever imagine. It's surreal. I keep asking myself why I keep coming to Burning Man. It's the dust? It's the heat? Haha. Nah. It's the people. The people I know and the people I know nothing about. They are real playa magic.

Every year I take pictures of people I meet there. I don't know who they are, what are their names, where are they from, where did they go to school, what are their jobs, how much money they have or what is their real story. But none of that matters because somehow we connect. Sometimes it's just a smile and that's perfectly enough. Thank you for smiling at me, thank you for talking to me, thank you for hugging me and others around you.
